The objective of the Society, having more than 8 000 members, is to educate in ophthalmology and to support research and development in the field. Chief eye surgeon Stodůlka had left for the United States and this prestigious event with his lecture on laser eye surgeries. He was also chosen for the team representing Europe in the scientific videos contest, which he highly appreciated. During this part of the conference called the TopGun, Dr. Stodůlka had the chance to meet Dr. Stephen Schallhorn, the former US Navy TopGun pilot, who became an eye surgeon.
