Eye surgeon and founder of the network of Gemini eye clinics Pavel Stodůlka had accepted an invitation to the professional congress for eye surgeons, which took place on August 3-6, 2022, in Noosa, Australia. He presented three current topics from the field of ophthalmology to foreign listeners. Participation in an event of this format confirms the high level and good reputation of Czech eye surgery in the world.
The Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons was founded in 1995. The main objective of the AUSCRS is to educate ophthalmologists and health professionals on the latest trends, sharing new knowledge, techniques, and experience in ophthalmology. AUSCRS is also affiliated with other supranational professional societies such as the International Society of Refractive Surgeons (ISRS), the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and others.
The lectures were divided into two sections:
- equipment for cataract surgery
- trends in refractive surgery
The chief surgeon of the Gemini Eye Clinic in Zlín presented more than three topics at the congress. Among other things, he also presented the results of a medical study regarding cataract surgery using a unique femtomatrix laser with a robotic arm, developed by the French manufacturer Keranova in cooperation with the Gemini Eye Clinic. Surgeons in Zlín operated on cataracts with this device for the very first time.
A special part of the program, which takes place in a thematic spirit, enriches the congress for the participants. During the conference, the lecturers are dressed in humorous costumes, which differ for each individual section.
