On the national holiday of October 28, the awarding of state merits took place at Prague Castle. Pavel Stodůlka, the Gemini Eye Clinic network founder, is one of the award-winning personalities who received the Medal of Merit in 2022. This is not the first public award for the eye surgeon. He received the Silver Medal of the Senate 10 years ago.
Seventy-eight personalities from various spheres were honored at the ceremony. Dr. Pavel Stodůlka on the state award: “I try to do my job as best as possible for the benefit of patients, and I enjoy advancing the possibilities of eye surgery. I’m not doing it for the medals. Nevertheless, I appreciate all the awards I have received, and the state award is an honor for the team of colleagues at the Gemini clinics and me. I want our clinics to combine the quality of health care with a human approach and innovations in surgical procedures. Czech eye surgery is among the best in the world. Last year, we managed to initiate the production of our own Czech artificial intraocular lenses, which were already implanted by the thousands, and this year we opened an eye tissue bank for corneal transplantation and developed our artificial cornea. And we have some other innovations planned.”
