Eye examination and what you can expect.
Upon the arrival at the clinic, you will be welcomed by nurses who will take your personal information. It is advisable to have your ID and a health insurance company card on you, should you be insured with any of the Czech health insurance companies. What follows is the eye examination with device measurement during which the state-of-the-art technology is used to assess the exact data of your eyesight. At the same time, the nurse will provide you with the printed information on laser eye surgery for you to read. A thorough examination is then performed by an optometrist and an ophthalmologist who will diagnose the eyesight error and will recommend the most suitable method of the visual error correction (most often with LASIK with a femtosecond laser, or a ReLEx SMILE method). Before the surgery itself, you will be given eye numbing drops which will locally anesthetise your eyes, so you do not have to worry of any pain.
You will only spend a few minutes in the laser room, during which an ophthalmology expert and an operating room nurse will take care of you. At the Gemini Eye Clinic we exclusively use German and Swiss top laser platforms for diopter removal and astigmatism treatment. The lasers ensure a safe procedure and a stable result of the surgery. Before you leave the clinic, the nurses will provide you a date of the follow-up appointment, you will receive the medical report, postoperative instructions, and sunglasses for the protection of your eyes.

Laser eye surgery is an outpatient procedure. You leave the clinic after a 2-3 hour stay being accompanied by someone who will drive you home. Your new life without glasses and lenses begins the day after the surgery.
